April 2021 Athlete of the Month- Kat

What can we say about Kat other than inspiring? Kat joined CrossFit 2024 in June of 2020 while she was roughly 5 months pregnant. Right from the start, Kat was motivated, worked hard, crushed every workout, and maintained it all up until her daughter was due.

While discussing who the athlete of the month could be, the coaches immediately agreed that Kat was the right choice. Just 2 months after beautiful Kamila was born, Kat reached out about getting back into the gym. We were stoked. Just a few months later we were seriously impressed and inspired. Kat and Kamila show up daily ready to get after it and put all excuses to the side. It doesn’t matter if she’s busy, tired, or got all the mom things to do, Kat shows up to the gym and puts in the work toward her goals. Aside from showing that pregnancy or motherhood don’t have to keep you from your goals, Kat always has an amazing attitude, is coachable, and has a ton of fun with her life.

Fun Facts:

Q: How long have you been doing CrossFit?

A:  since June 2020

Q: Why did you originally hop on the CrossFit Express?

A: my partner was really into it and For convenience I joined the same gym.

Q: What motivates you to keep going and working hard?

A: I feel better about life when I’m healthy, I want my daughter to grow up seeing that health is a priority for me and she’ll hopefully find joy in it too.

Q: What’s your favorite movements in CrossFit?

A: shoulder press, handstands, deadlifts (mostly shoulder movements)

Q: What are your long term goals?

A: create a healthy lifestyle that I can sustain. I like muscles too lol so keeping a strong body

Q: What’s your biggest accomplishment since joining 2024?

A: A 10 min birth haha but really, strengthening my body enough during pregnancy that I was strong enough physically and mentally to push with max effort in a short amount of time.

Q: What’s one hidden talent you have or interesting fact about you?

A: I’ve broken my legs 5 different times! And here I am lol 

Q: Favorite movie?

A: the Grinch (human version)

Q: Favorite coffee/lunch/dinner spot in ATX?

A: too many but: coffee – Summer moon, lunch – Cabo bobs, dinner – Gabriela’s currently 

Q: What’s one item on your bucket list?

A: buy farmland and own two goats 

Q: Favorite Cheat Meal?

A: pizza!! 

Q: What are you looking forward to the most in 2021?

A: getting baptized and my daughters first birthday 

Q: What’s something you’d say to someone considering joining CrossFit for the first time?

A: Do it! There’s so much fulfillment in seeing your body change for the better. If I could start pregnant, anyone can do it lol
