Homemade Bone Broth

Some may be first time original recipes while others passed down over the years by loved ones. We think you’ll enjoy them and lets be honest, who doesn’t love a new recipe to try? Enjoy!

Today’s submission is submitted by 2024 athlete Zach! In this weeks blog, Zach shows us how to make a tasty bone broth that can be used for cooking other dishes or simply to make a delicious soup!

Ingredients:

– Large Pot
– Beef Bones
– 1 Pack Carrots
– Large Onion
– 1-2 Celery Stalks
– Head of Garlic
– Vinegar
– Olive Oil

Lets do it!

Step 1. Heat pot on stove with a few tbsp olive oil

  Step 2. Place halved onion flat side down into pan to brown. Remove onion when face is crispy and brown. Repeat this step with the beef bones and garlic.

 Step 3. Chop celery and carrots (along with any other vegetables)

Step 4. When bones, garlic, and onion are browned, add a shot of vinegar and chopped veggies into pan

    Step 5. Add about 1 inch of water to pan and bring to a boil. Simmer  between 6-24 hours with lid on. Make sure to remove any scum that floats to top.

Step 6. Remove bones from pan and strain the remainder of the ingredients.

Uses for bone broth

  • Add bone broth to rice or dish in lieu of water to increase flavor and nutritional content
  • Make soup by heating bone broth and water (60% broth, 40% water) and adding veggies and meat .
