March Athlete of the Month – Scott
Scott has been at 2024 just under 3 months, but has made such a wonderful, lasting impact on our community! Scott has been doing CrossFit for a few years, is quite strong and has excellent form (it’s been stated by our family, “he has the squat of a Greek God!”) … but, he takes the time to intentionally work on every aspect of his CrossFit practice in order to grow (including his weaknesses) and is extremely humble. Scott remains someone who is coachable, welcomes and appreciates our coaches help. Because of these great qualities, we consider him to be more of a seasoned veteran. He has been such a blessing to our box family, loves to help others and is just a ton of fun! He always comes in with a smile, a wave, ready to work hard and have a lot of fun! Scott has an extremely bright future ahead in life and in the CrossFit! We’re so thankful for you Scott!
Here’s a few “Great Scott” facts:
Q: How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A: (off and on) since March of 2015, so right around 3 years now
Q: Why did you start CrossFit and originally join 2024?
A: I originally got into CrossFit because I was getting bored in the gym and wanted something where I could compete and just push myself against a certain set of standards, myself, and other individuals. I joined 2024 because I immediately felt more comfortable with the calmer atmosphere. So it wasn’t as crazy competitive and hectic and cutthroat as a lot of gyms out there. Everyone was super inviting and friendly and just genuinely trying to learn and improve, not just beat everyone else at everything they did.
Q: Biggest accomplishments since joining 2024.
A: Just becoming consistent again with my workout patterns and learning to just enjoy each day. Coming from a very competitive gym, that’s something I struggled with and would get very nervous and anxious before workouts. Now I just go in each day with an open mind and just want to get a good workout in.
Q: What’s one hidden talent you have or interesting fact about you?
A: Um well I really do enjoy singing funny enough. I can’t play a single musical instrument though and will never sing in front of pretty much anyone (unless liquid courage is involved).
Q: Favorite movie or favorite cheat meal?
A: Favorite movie is probably dumb and dumber. Cheat meals are usually just disgusting food or sugar so like fast food anything and ice cream
Q: Tell us of a time you laughed so hard you cried
A: I cry laughing basically on a weekly basis! I love dad jokes and hear so many good ones it’s hard to choose just one. The cheesier the better. “Why do you never see hippos hiding in trees? Because they’re so good at it”
Q: What’s one item on your bucket list?
A: Mostly traveling all over the world. I’m not an adrenaline junkie at all so nothing super crazy. I just wanna see the world.
