Memorial DAY MURPH {2019}

Join us May 27th in a morning tribute to Lt. Michael P. Murphy during our annual Memorial Day Murph WOD. For all of those of you wanting to get more details… look no further!

WHO can participate:
All members are welcome to participate in the workout. Kids and family are encouraged to spectate. All abilities and levels welcome to join. Scaling is always an option (and we may even recommend) depending on your current fitness level/ability. Any extended CrossFit family members traveling to Austin wanting to join, we’d love to have you drop-in! Just complete the online request to drop-in that day and one of our staff members will contact you.

WHAT is the WOD:
“Murph”
Complete the following for time:
1 Mile Run
100 Pull Ups
200 Push Ups
300 Squats
1 Mile Run

The workout can be done individually, scaled, in pairs or as a team- so long as it’s completed in an hour.

WHY do we do this:
Every Memorial Day, CrossFit affiliates honor Lt. Murphy, who was awarded the military’s highest recognition — the Congressional Medal of Honor — for his courage during Operation Red Wing, in which he lost his life. These actions captivated the country while represented in the book and subsequent movie, Lone Survivor. Lt. Murphy used to complete the above workout alone on a nearly weekly basis during his time as a US Navy SEAL. Then, he nicknamed his favorite workout “Body Armor,” with the hope that it would keep him safe in battle.
